The Rhyme verses by Ahmed Kaisar

                                                      - Al Mahmood

Poet Ahmed Kaisar is one of my favorite poem Writers. His sincerity in children's literature has already charmed me. Recently I got a book of poems by Ahmed Kaisar. After reading the verses which were printed in four colors, which I feel attracts the readers to read them again and again. I feel that the key ingredient for writing poems, obviously for those who want to compose mesmerizing poems, is that they should know what they are writing about. What should they know? They should know the history behind the poems, rhymes, verses, songs, whatever it may be. Since the inception of the Bangla language, I think, Ahmed Kaiser has more or less a good grasp of the history of the evolution of Bangla rhyme literate and its gradual changes. Many writers take this rhyme writing as an easy poetic performance and claims to be triumphant. But to speak something new, giving new ideas, using suggestiveness and symmetry, requires good poetic skill. The rhyme book titled `Phoolgulo Pathe Pathe' is basically written about the street children. The poet's sympathy for the deprived and neglected children is evident in it. Without profound affection, composition of such work is never possible. In the first nursery rhyme of this book the poet speaks about the activities of a flower girls life from morning to evening and her busy routine on the streets selling flowers. Kaisar's effort to create imagery has been beautifully portrayed in this poem. Kaisar has wanted to say that the Pakhi's (Bird) life is better than the Ankhi's. The nursery rhyme touches the readers for the sympathetic approach of the subject of the poem. The second poem is written about the story of one or two ill-fated children, like:

It was nineteenth of (Boyshakh) April,
The day was Saturday,
At Sadarghat there got down
with his mother Rony.

Thus the imagery of an ill-fated child making his entry in the Metro City of Dhaka has been created in this poem. In simple and lucid language and by the use of rhymes the verse has reached ultimate perfection. The naturalness in his rhymed verses will easily captivate the child readers as it has captivated me. The book includes only four rhymed verses and it has attained perfection in its form and style in telling the fairytale on a realistic plain. To speak about the poetic skill of Ahmed Kaisar, I would like to say that Ahmed Kaisar has the natural flair and skill of a poet in the real sense. If he gains control over the oblique trend of the modern poems through study, his future compositions will be rich with suggestiveness and more touching. Many writers in our country have written rhyme verses for mere show off. Such writings do not get longevity for failure of creating appropriate rhymes. Intellectual flavor is also a precondition for this. Without having a good grasp of modern literature success is not possible.
I do not find any attempt by Kaisar to give the impression of a mere show off or fluke. Neither has he made any attempt to earn accolade by the use of Overflowing rhymes.
